Shopify wanted an event that celebrated its global community of developers and partners, and that captured the creativity and craft behind its builder culture. Working with Mantis as a design partner, I led the Art Direction for the visual and spatial identity of a 150,000-square-foot experience. The goal was a space that sparked conversation, exploration, and connection, and that brought Shopify’s craft-led design ethos into the physical world.
Together with Shopify’s creative team, we built a modular design system that could flex across the space without losing visual impact. It grew out of the idea of connected thinking: a graphic language of intersecting dots and lines that became the foundation of the whole event identity.
That system carried through every touchpoint, including a scalable product booth system, a monumental main stage, custom wayfinding, color-coded workshop spaces, and a retail space for exclusive Shopify merch. The result was one cohesive brand experience that showed design can scale and still feel crafted.
